AN UPDATE:
ambient light is minimal across the great state of colorado.
the plains near ramah are cold and windy and eerie. more tattered flags were flying, similar to the one we saw the other day. because of the lack of moon light, the competition between the light pollution of colorado springs and denver is more pronounced than usual.
denver is breezy and warm and vibrant. kids are biking and laughing, and i hope that they remember tonight as a good night, and i hope that they will reminisce about it someday. at approximately 12:30 (00:30) mst 2008/05/26, a texan in an isuzu rodeo listened to techno music at obnoxious volumes on speer boulevard before merging onto i-25 north.
boulder is rainy and calm and quiet. i find myself thinking about people falling asleep with smiles on their faces looking forward to the big day tomorrow (today). also in boulder, i have been struck by the realization that i am a sappy sonofabitch. i also find myself thinking that i wish that i could comfort you while you are sick, and somehow help you to feel better.
the mountains look ominous, but no first hand accounts of the conditions are available. likely, things are cool and rainy, and if the mood were right, sitting and looking up would be a pleasant experience. however, in a different mood (that is, if the mood were right, but different), the mere act of exiting a vehicle and standing in the silent dark would be a terrifying ordeal.
